Rabbi Greg Kanter

Rabbi Greg Kanter grew up in St. Louis, MO and received his BA from Knox College in Galesburg, IL. He went on to become a rabbi at the Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion in Jerusalem, and Cincinnati, OH. In 2018 Rabbi Kanter received an honorary Doctor of Divinity from Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion.

Rabbi Kanter was engaged in social justice work for equality in S. Florida and taught youth and adults during his years in Charleston, SC.

Since starting at Temple B’rith Sholom in July of 2024, Rabbi Kanter has been reaching out to leaders of other houses of worship and community organizations in order to build TBS’s profile in the community. Rabbi Kanter has also been reaching out to persons within the congregation to learn more about our congregation and community.

Rabbi Kanter joins TBS with his family since settling in their new home in Springfield.
